Smokin J’s Barbeque is a professional barbecue cook team consisting of Doug Johnson, Pit Master and his wife, JoAnn.
Former residents of Georgia, Doug’s unparalleled passion for barbecue encouraged him to join the Georgia Barbecue Association in 2013 and begin competing.
In their inaugural season, they “racked” up in the Rib category,
3rd place overall at the Richand Pig Fest and
4th place overall at Acworth’s Smoke On The Lake
At the end of their first season, they finished 19th in the Team of the Year running, out of over 100 registered teams.
In their second season, they purchased another smoker and finished 18th for the Team of Year race.
Although unable to attempt a points championship, the 2017-2018 cook season, Doug and JoAnn accumulated multiple awards for their loin, pulled pork and ribs.
Assisted by their very first sponsor, D.C. Webster, who helped purchase a Stump Smoker, they look to improve their status and become one of the most competitive teams in the Georgia Barbecue Association.
In 2017, we took home our very first GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP by winning 1st place in a very tough RIB category.
